This is a very large and comprehensive site and as a great deal of information
on all aspects of the Internet and the World Wide Web including Usenet
and Email. It actually states “The mission of this web site is to make
comprehensive, in-depth information about the Internet available around
the world.”
Although the site is very large it is well laid out with lots of links
and something you don't see very often, no advertisements.
The site boasts that it as been reviewed by the very people that helped
to create the Internet, and as a list of some quite famous people with
there comments.
To name but a few:
Ted Nelson,
discovered the concept of hypertext.
Vinton Cerf,
co-designer of the Internet protocol TCP/IP.
Paul Baran,
developer of packet switching.
I think that this site will be useful to T171 students because it covers
most of the material in module two in some depth.
The how it was invented section gives a good description of
the people involved and there contributions, supporting much of the work
done in module two section two.
The Mosaic section is typical of all the sections it starts with a
summary of the people and events and as links to any relevant external
sites or pages within the Living Internet site. There is an image of and
a quote from Marc Andreesen the principle person involved in the development
of Mosaic. It then provides links to papers that are available online by
Marc Andreesen .

My overall opinion of this site is that it is of good quality with lots
of in-depth material, what is done is done well, more graphics would have
been nice, but the fact that it is endorsed by some of the founders of
the Internet gives this site that little extra credibility.
