OT2 stage 1  "Writing for the Web"

    Alan Turing net

This is a very different site to the Alan Turing home page  its ongoing and scheduled for completion by the end of 2004, its as much a site for computing especially mainframe computers and mathematics as it is about Alan Turing.
There is a biography giving all the important dates which comes across a bit too factual (all dates and no detail).
The photo gallery contains only eleven photos all of which seem to have been taken on the same day !
What there is, is a great deal of archive material on Alan Turing's theories and writings, this is reflected in the links to universities and government establishments, this site is definitely wrote by academics for what my sons would call proper research.
The site is very neat if a little bland, there are both internal and external links, most of the internal ones are to information on Alan Turing while the external are to facsimile's of documents relating to the history of computing.
I do not seem to have written very much about this site and you should judge it on the relevance to its intended audience, so with the wealth of database material available through this site its got to be rated as good.

So in conclusion

  •     content & coverage.           specialized.

  •
